Xerox PARC Exhibit

An Immersive Journey into Technological Innovation

Erik Schmitt & Julio Martinez, the masterminds behind this captivating exhibit, were inspired by the incredible history and fascinating current endeavors of Xerox PARC. Their goal was to create a space where the artifacts and stories of PARC's groundbreaking inventions could take center stage.

What sets this exhibit apart is its ability to strike a balance between showcasing the past and highlighting the future. Historic artifacts are elegantly displayed on clean, contemporary platforms, while bold graphics, videos, and interactive presentations provide a glimpse into the ongoing innovation taking place at PARC.

Collaborating with the in-house engineering team at PARC, Schmitt and Martinez fabricated custom platforms for the artifacts and interactive iPad stations. The result is a seamless integration of technology and design, allowing visitors to engage with the exhibit in a meaningful way.

Spanning 1,200 square feet, the Xerox PARC Exhibit is a permanent installation located in Palo Alto, California. Visitors are invited to explore the space, encountering physical artifacts and videos that provide a glimpse into the groundbreaking work that has taken place at PARC.

One of the key features of the exhibit is the interactive iPad platforms placed near each cluster of artifacts. These platforms offer deeper insights into the innovations and allow visitors to engage with the content on a more personal level. Additionally, a designated area encourages conversations between PARC employees and clients, fostering further exploration and collaboration.

The design of the Xerox PARC Exhibit presented a unique challenge for Schmitt and Martinez. They had to find a way to showcase the many spectacular innovations from PARC's past without overwhelming the exhibit with the current endeavors. The result is a carefully curated space that seamlessly weaves together the past and the future.

This remarkable exhibit has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
